On August 18, 2021, Governor Jay Inslee announced a new directive legally requiring all K–12 school district employees to get a COVID-19 vaccination or a medical or religious exemption by mid-October. This proclamation does not apply to students.

PUBLIC NOTICE
Let it be publicly known to all persons that the 2021/2022 FISCAL BUDGET and four-year budget plan of CHEWELAH SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 36, Stevens County, Washington, will be available on July 1st at 8:00 am at the School District Administrative Office located at N. 210 Park, Chewelah, WA 99109. A copy of the completed budget and four-year budget plan will be furnished to any person who might request such. Also, let it be publicly known to all persons that the Board of Directors of CHEWELAH SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 36, Stevens County, Washington, will hold a budget hearing on July 21, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. and an open public meeting on July 21, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. in the Gess Elementary Gym at 405 E. Lincoln, Chewelah for the purpose of fixing and adopting the 2021/2022 FISCAL BUDGET. All inquiries regarding this notice should be directed to Mara Schneider, Business Manager, at (509) 685-6800.

WCAAP is partnering with the Washington State PTA to offer a virtual town hall-style forum at 7:00-8:00PM on August 17th to address parents’ questions and concerns about going back to school, including COVID-19 concerns, catching up on routine childhood vaccinations, COVID-19 vaccines, and behavioral health. Our thanks to WCAAP members Drs. Jasmin Zavala and Frank Bell for participating in the forum. We will also be joined by Lacy Fehrenbach, Deputy Secretary of Health for COVID-19 Response at DOH and Lisa Barrois, PhD, a clinical psychologist at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

The Chewelah School District Board of Directors approve the accelerated academic student growth plan at the May 19, 2021 board meeting.
Chewelah School District is seeking applications from citizens interested in being appointed to a committee to write the for/against statements for the Stevens County Local Voters' Pamphlet related to the District's replacement capital levy for health, safety and educational improvements ballot measure to be considered at the November 2, 2021, election.
