Mask Requirements for School this Fall

Dear Parents and Students of Chewelah Public Schools,

State health requirement announcement from Governor Inslee:

As you may have heard, the Washington State Department of Health announced today that the state will continue to require all students and staff to wear face coverings, regardless of vaccination status, in Washington K-12 schools this fall. The state said that this is a legal requirement that schools must follow, and local school districts do not have the ability to implement less restrictive requirements. We understand the state will revisit these requirements if circumstances change. The K-12 COVID-19 Requirements for 2021-2022 School Year also includes changes to contact tracing and other procedures. The Chewelah School District is reviewing the updated requirements and will provide more information to families in the near future. For example, mask wearing will not be required for the outdoors.
