• Collective Bargaining

    • The District has established this website to keep the community informed on collective bargaining with the Chewelah School District employees who are represented by labor unions. The Chewelah Education Association  (CEA) represents teachers and other certificated positions; the Chewelah Classified Public Employees Association (CPEA) represents secretaries, bus drivers, cooks, custodians, paraeducators, maintenance workers, mechanics, and technology support staff.


    Information on these webpages provide an archive on the bargaining teams’ efforts to date to reach agreement on the renewal of union contracts:

      • The current CEA bargaining agreement runs through August 31, 2019.
      • The current CPEA bargaining agreement runs through August 31, 2021.

    Updates

    September 4, 2019 - The Chewelah School District and the Chewelah Education Association entered into mediation provided by Public Employmnet Relations Commission.

    August 18, 2019 - CEA/Certificated Baraining Update

    The Chewelah School District and the Chewelah Education Association exchanged and discussed the attached proposals.  At the conclusion of the session, both sides mutally agreed to mediation.

    August 14, 2019 - CEA/Certificated Bargaining Update

    The Chewelah School District and the Chewelah Education Association exchanged and discussed the attached proposals. The next bargaining session is scheduled for August 19, 2019.

     

     

    August 6, 2019 - CEA/Certificated Bargaining Update

    The Chewelah School District and the Chewelah Education Association exchanged and discussed the attached proposals. The next bargaining session is scheduled for August 13, 2019.

     

     

    August 5, 2019 - CEA/Certificated Bargaining Update

    The Chewelah School District and the Chewelah Education Association conducted their first bargaining session. The attached proposals were presented during this session. Ground rules for the process were debated and agreed upon.  The next bargaining session is scheduled for August 6, 2019.
