A Letter from Head Coach Cameron Gump
Dear Cougar Parents/Guardians,
As we are all in the beginning of summer and making vacation plans, please keep in mind the opportunities during the summer to become a better athlete. Last year, we had several athletes dedicate themselves to summer training and it showed positively during the season. To build a strong program we need to commit to growing in the weight room and with speed training. I believe that we have a lot of great returners that will put us in the top half of the league… if we are willing to work for it. We will never be handed anything, and this will only be possible through hard work. If the athletes are willing to put in the hard work, then I believe that their potential is limitless. Our theme this year will be “Whatever It Takes!” I believe that our athletes and coaches need to value the idea that they will do whatever it takes to achieve success for the program with dignity.
Our ultimate goal is to build a football program that both the student body and community are proud of on and off the field. Although everyone loves to win, one key aspect of our program is that we aspire to produce young men of great character, self-esteem, self-discipline, and high achievement. Becoming a member of the Chewelah Football team will allow your son to grow into the best possible version of themselves.
We are in a transition period, and are making some major changes within the scheme of the game. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from Jim Fisk and we look forward to doing everything we can possibly do to give your son the best opportunity of achieving success. We believe that this group has a lot of potential and can’t wait to get the wheels turning!
Whether your son played on the team last year or not, we look forward to all of the young men that are out there on August 15th. We are very excited for the season and look forward to working with your sons. RECRUIT, RECRUIT, RECRUIT!
