The Gator Garden is ready for Spring!
As we begin the growing year, we are in need of a few basic items. As a volunteer garden, (since the grant ran out), we could use some donated items. They don't have to be new. I am also planning to hit yard sales to find things.
Here is a list of things I can think of:
Broom and dustpan (cleaning the potting shed)
A couple of small leaf rakes
Garden cultivators (hand forks)
A couple of shovels
Nippers or garden shears
8 Metal fence posts for Raspberry support Thank you, Mr. Proszek! Bailing twine
Bulbs donated by Jessica Sety, Mary Sety, and Leanne Verbeck are blooming.
The raspberry canes and the apple tree are leafing out.
A pumpkin patch is in the works to support "Light up the Park".
Over the winter we moved the shed and connected it to the garden
with the help of Gib Earl and Jerry Pugh.
Steve Savitz and Mac Franklin also put skirting up and supported
the shed with proper blocking and concrete pads.
This spring, Tom Skok has donated parts for our water system
and has done some training on how to make it work well.
We are now planning the plantings in the rest of the
garden and looking ahead to some sort of summer maintenance
plan to keep it a nice place to visit and a jewel for the school!
If you are a gardener interested in helping out in the spring or summer,
let us know! Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or give
Jeff a call at 685-6800 ext. 4110.
